Description

Carbon fiber PETG (CF-PETG) offers greater stiffness and dimensional stability compared to standard PETG, making it ideal for structural parts like drone frames or automotive components. However, this comes at the cost of reduced impact resistance—the embedded carbon fibers restrict flexibility, making the material more prone to cracking under sudden stress. While standard PETG remains tough and bendable (better for snap-fit parts or protective cases), CF-PETG excels where rigidity matters most.

A key consideration when printing CF-PETG is nozzle wear. While a hardened steel nozzle is strongly recommended due to the abrasive carbon fibers, brass nozzles can be used—but they’ll degrade quickly, leading to inconsistent extrusion and poorer print quality over time. For best results, increase the nozzle temperature by 5–10°C to improve layer adhesion, avoid sharp corners (which concentrate stress), and always use an external spool (CF-PETG isn’t compatible with automatic filament systems like Bambu Lab’s AMS).

CF-PETG’s matte, textured finish and enhanced strength make it a popular choice for professional-looking functional parts.
